Thomas Wheet manages the P.R. Harris Food Hub in Washington D.C’s Anacostia neighborhood. His research project–focused on assessing the business viability of small-scale, soilless agricultural production–provides fresh produce, educational resources, and volunteer opportunities to Washingtonians living within D.C.’s most historically disenfranchised communities. In addition to his role at the University of the District of Columbia, Thomas serves as a Policy Analyst for the Aquaponics Association and is a USDA Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (S.A.R.E.) Fellow.
Outside of work, you can find Thomas with his head in a book, scaling a rock climbing wall, or mentoring local high schoolers interested in social entrepreneurship.
